This tour is a partnership between It Started in Africa and Tent with a View
luxury campsites. During it, you will do a luxurious 4 days
safari in Selous, staying in the wonderful Sable Mountain Lodge.

DAY1: NOTHERN CIRCURT TANZANIA SELOUS GAME RESERVES.

Having arrived in Dar es Salaam, you
will be transferred to the TAZARA train station for the late afternoon
connection to UNESCO World Heritage site, Selous Game Reserve. The train is a
wonderful, albeit idiosyncratic experience, which may involve delays but
guarantees a rich opportunity to observe rural life in Tanzania and your first
glimpse of game in Selous. The train stops in the late evening at Kisaki
station where you will be met by the Sable Mountain team and take a short night
drive through the bush bordering the reserve to the lodge in time for a late
dinner.

DAY 2: NOTHERN CIRCURT TANZANIA SELOUS GAME RESERVES.

Awaken to a beautiful dawn on your
first morning and head out on a foot safari in the area around the lodge
crossing through open woodland and rich riverine forest, using our hides along
the way to study bird and mammal life and to get your first experience of the
splendour of Selous. In the midafternoon, perhaps after a swim in the cooling
waters of the Sable Mountain pool, you will head out on your first game drive
exploring the North West area of the reserve well known for its large elephant
population and home to the rare Roosevelt Sable antelope. Plains games are
plentiful, there are three established lion prides in the area and wild dogs
are regular visitors.

DAY 3: NOTHERN CIRCURT TANZANIA SELOUS GAME RESERVES.

Starting once again at dawn, you
will head out for a picnic breakfast on a wonderful extended game drive across
a magnificent changing landscape to Lake Tagalala. From your boat, you will
explore the extent of the lake famed for its massive crocodile numbers, rare
birds, including African skimmers and the only recorded Humblots heron on the
entire continent’s main land. Game driving back to the lodge for a late lunch,
you have an excellent opportunity to see large cats, wild dogs and an extensive
list of ungulates including Eland and Greater Kudu as well as large numbers of
the more familiar mammals. The late afternoon offers you the chance to visit
the excellent tree house at Sable Mountain and see which animals visit the
water hole.
